Thank you for beginning this work. I will try to read one of your posts every couple of days until I am current. Yes, the situation is dire. Most of all, it includes a workable budget!

I realize you, too, may have a plan, as I am only today discovering your story and reading both your most recent post and this, your first. And the first thing we must change is ourselves, our attitude to consumption, growth and the mindless & outdated economic theories that are deeply embeded in our lifestyles.

I believe that the current double whammy of global recession and global warming gives us unique opportunity to explain to our materialistic world that the difference between GREED and GREEN is just one letter, not really too much, if we want to change.

We can make GREEN profitable and make it happen if we adopt a balanced way of life. We can make it happen if we convince those economists to stop pursuing outdated Keynesian theories and learn how to manage long drawn economic contractions without increasing human misery. That the Fed is making yet another blunder by printing $ 1 Tr paper money to buy treasury bonds that will in turn finance debt to buy the toxic assets, the same securities that pulled Freddie, Fannie, Citi & AIG down not so long ago.

We can make it happen if we prove to the technologists and it is more profitable to set up large solar photovoltaic cell plants in India & China like the German companies are doing today then trying to sell nuclear or fossil fuel plants. For the unique mix of abundant sunshine, low cost manpower for installation and high demand of energy can turn solar technology cheaper than fossil fuel by 2020 if such plants are installed by the dozen.

Being an eternal optimist, I believe that this recession is our biggest opportunity as people are caught in a bind and thinking hard.... we can turn things around by 2020 if we strike now with a long drawn gameplan "To create a balanced way of life" and start thinking rationally about economics and sustainibilty of perpetual growth theory. No I am not asking people to study economics. Only ask ten simple questions to yourselves that I will put up at twitter ( Sandip Sen) & my google blog Simple Simon ( Emnew Dresser)shortly.

I believe we must fight tooth and nail to see that the letters from 2030 wakes us up and serves us as a Timely Reminder to our duties.

"This is Our Right" must change to " This is our duty" as the time is now to sow and not to reap ( Buddhist Calender)Emnew Dresserhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/08143929506416394888noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-2776543796762947736.post-41999161174856482952009-03-24T12:04:00.000-07:002009-03-24T12:04:00.000-07:00It is so sad that people still fail to listen. The arguement seems to be keep the status quo.

Insurance companies around the world are calculating what the effects of climate change will cost us. The scientific society is missing expected dates of tipping points left and right. The bottom line is that the prospect of run-a-way global warming is on our dootstep.

I look forward to reading these posts, to see what others think our not so distant future will hold. It may offer insight in to survive, as I for one hold little hope that humanity will come together to salvage the planet and save their greed invested lifestyles.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.com
